Review and Buying Guide of Buying Guide of Hamilton Beach 40898 Cool-Touch 8-Cup Cordless Electric Kettle - Electric Kettles

Four points erroneous with this kettle. Guy, i might been hoping to like this kettle far more than i do. There are 4 design and style flaws in it that misplaced it two stars. The car-shut-off leaves the kettle in the 'on' place.

Let me reveal. Suppose you are making tea. You convert the kettle on. You can listen to the water boiling in there, but it has not turned alone off. You decide the kettle up off the base and you hear a simply click as it mechanically stops boiling.

I appreciate it. . This electric kettle has been fantastic. It is all stainless metal on the inside, besides up in which the lid is, and the warm h2o doesn't contact people elements. It was significant to me that i not get plastic, rubbery parts in my boiling drinking water, and all of the other stainless steel kettles i appeared at experienced one thing questionable touching my h2o. Not so on this 1.

It will not acquire up a great deal room on my counter prime. It will not heat up my dwelling. It isn't going to leak except i overfill it. The only concern i have with this kettle is that the fill line is on the completely wrong facet, in which you can not genuinely see it until you detach the lid (you you should not want to do that). I can type of see the line, but not conveniently.

Negative Review of Hamilton Beach 40898 Cool-Touch 8-Cup Cordless Electric Kettle

Not 64 ounces. I was excited to receive this as a gift. But then i looked closer and realized that it is not really 8 cups or 64 oz as mentioned in the description and on the box. It is 1. 2 liters (also on the box).

But that is only about 36 ounces. That is not even close to 8 cups or 64 ounces. I mainly use my other water kettle for pre-boiling pasta water. My sister knew this and thought she was getting me an 8-cup one. So she is very disappointed as well.

Very simple But Purposeful (and Sturdy). I've had the hamilton beach neat touch tea kettle for two several years and i have had no complications with it. I adore it for the subsequent attributes:professionals----- stainless steelthe most significant reason i bought this kettle is that its interior is manufactured of stainless metal, not plastic. Boiling h2o in plastic just isn't going to sit perfectly with me what with the speak about the health and fitness dangers from hazardous chemical compounds (e. G. Bpa, deha) in plastic leaching into meals and drinks. - seamless metalinside and out, i just can not discover a a metal seam - the kettle is a just one-piece stainless steel construction and have certainly no joints in which parts of stainless metal are welded with each other. There is, thus, no want to be concerned about the drinking water getting contaminated by guide from solder. - brief boilit boils 40 oz of drinking water, the utmost capability, in four minutes. (i in fact timed it. Boil moments will of class vary based on altitude and the original temperature of the drinking water. )- 'cool' touchwhen boiling h2o in the kettle, the exterior of the kettle is warm, not incredibly hot, so you will not danger having burned. - vast openingthe wide opening would make it easy to fill it with water and to clear. - straightforward plug in and plug outto 'plug in' the kettle to the electricity offer, merely sit the kettle on the foundation unit. Likewise, just carry the kettle to 'unplug' it. It's a a single-handed operation, and there's no cords or plugs to mess with. - spring-loaded lidthe spring-loaded lid flips open with the push of a button on the cope with. The lid can also be easily detached by pressing a button on it to release a capture. - auto shutoffwhen the h2o starts to boil, the power button pops up, the eco-friendly led indicator turns off, and the kettle instantly shuts off. There is also an audible 'click' as the electric power button pops up. - looksthe kettle appears to be like beautiful with its very simple curves and brushed stainless metal finish. As for drawbacks, you will find just a single for me:con---- really hard-to-see 'max' h2o fill markthe interior has a 'max' mark to indicate the most water level but it is really not quick to see it. Function-around: the lid is hinged in the middle, so when it is flipped open up, the bottom fifty percent of extends under the rim of the kettle. It so occurs that the base of the lid lines up with the 'max' mark, so you can use the lid as a marker for gauging when the drinking water stage reaches the mark. Conclusion----------the hamilton beach awesome contact tea kettle is appealing, effortless to use, and boils drinking water swiftly. I don't imagine you can go completely wrong with this 1. [update june nine, 2011i'm really pleased with how durable this product is -- i've been using this electric kettle for well over 4 years now, and i've had no problems with it. I hope to enjoy using it for many more years to come![update january 17, 2014]my kettle finally conked out after 7 years. I've used it almost daily for the last 7 years, so i've had a good run with it -- no complaints there! if i didn't have 2 other electric kettles, i'd most certainly buy this kettle again. It's the fastest electric kettle i've ever had in terms of boil times -- a big selling point for me. .

The Only Choice!. One of the best features about this kettle is that the all metal interior is seamless! no metal stamped or welded together unlike other stainless steel kettles out there. Guarantees me of no leaking and no grooves to corrode or collect junk. The other great feature is that the entire lid can be removed leaving you the ability to insert your whole hand in to clean the interior. There are no sharp edges either! the flip open lid allows easy filling. I've been searching and researching for a long time, and this was the best $40 spent! my old stove top kettle is out in the recycling bin!.

Plastic-Lid Work-Around, Super-Fast Heat-Up, Misleading Capacity. I was searching for an electric kettle that had absolutely no plastic. After reading descriptions and reviews of numerous kettles and finding that my ideal kettle just doesn't exist (i was even willing to pay a couple hundred dollars if i found one), this one came the closest. While there is plastic with this kettle, it is limited to the lid and two very tiny prongs at the top of the kettle (i'll post pictures). But what clinched it for me was when another reviewer posted that the plastic lid easily detached and the kettle still heated water rather quickly. What also appealed to me, posted by another reviewer, was hamilton beach's excellent customer service and commitment to environmental considerations. I decided to purchase this kettle if i could still get a quick boil without the use of the plastic lid. I purchased it several weeks ago and i use it upwards of 8 times throughout a day. This kettle gets to a roiling boil in less than 3-minutes (with the lid) and gets the water hot enough for tea or a french press in about 1-1/2 to 2-minutes; add about another 1-1/2 minutes without the lid, which is completely acceptable to me. The problem is with the auto shut-off. I found that the auto shut off either a) doesn't work without the lid (seems to rely on the build up of steam), or, b) it takes several minutes (upwards of 6 minutes) to shut off, which it did only about 2 out of 5 times. I also found that, without the lid, the roiling boil spit over the edge a smidge. While the shut-off issue didn't bother me too much, i found i didn't like having to monitor it and sought a work around. I found that inverting my round corning ware 1-1/2 quart glass lid and placing it on top of the kettle forms a complete seal, the water heats up quickly and i don't have to deal with the plastic lid, monitoring auto-shut-off, nor the minor irritant of boiling water spitting out. I gave this kettle 4 out of 5 stars because the detracting factors are the plastic lid, plastic prongs and the fact that, while this is a technically an 8-cup capacity kettle, the fill-line makes it a 4-cup capacity. Otherwise when it gets to a roiling boil the spit factor kicks in big time. So i do not fill past the fill line. Necessarily, there is an overflow reservoir (at the handle) which will fill up and water will spill out the bottom if you tilt the kettle back toward the handle. Could be hot or not. No big deal to me and a necessary function of the kettle. Overall, this kettle works superbly for my needs and now i have a kettle with a glass lid and only two very small pieces of plastic. And i get to drink my coffee in the morning, my tea all day and i can quickly boil water to dump onto the weeds outside (which kills them naturally!).

Conclusion of Hamilton Beach 40898 Cool-Touch 8-Cup Cordless Electric Kettle

It also means the water will heat up a tiny bit more quickly and stays very hot a whole lot for a longer period than uninsulated kettles. The final result is that the only two ways to transform this off are to don't forget to flip the switch or rely on the kettle to convert alone off when the remaining h2o boils or the pot operates dry. The lid is plastic but it isn't going to occur into call with the drinking water. I actually failed to like the thought of boiling water in speak to with plastic. - awesome touch exterior for security and also it insulates the h2o inside, trying to keep it hotter immediately after the kettle shuts off on boiling.

Easy to take out lid to thoroughly clean, nevertheless as other folks pointed out it does get in the way a bit when you happen to be filling the kettle. - as with quite a few other kettles, it is cordless -- the kettle lifts simply off and on from the corded base, and you can hide any excess ability cord inside of the foundation. Con (none of these subject to me or my wife):- no drinking water amount indicator, but then if there had been you would probably have connections that could leak about time and probably plastic pieces in call with drinking water. I love it for the subsequent features:execs----- stainless steelthe most crucial cause i got this kettle is that its inside is produced of stainless steel, not plastic. Boiling water in plastic just does not sit nicely with me what with the communicate about the well being hazards from dangerous substances (e.

    - seamless metalinside and out, i merely can not obtain a a steel seam - the kettle is a one-piece stainless steel construction and have certainly no joints wherever parts of stainless metal are welded jointly. )- 'cool' touchwhen boiling drinking water in the kettle, the exterior of the kettle is heat, not warm, so you will not chance getting burned. - simple plug in and plug outto 'plug in' the kettle to the electricity source, simply just sit the kettle on the foundation unit. - auto shutoffwhen the drinking water begins to boil, the energy button pops up, the eco-friendly led indicator turns off, and the kettle instantly shuts off. - looksthe kettle looks attractive with its straightforward curves and brushed stainless metal end.

As for disadvantages, there is just one particular for me:con---- really hard-to-see 'max' water fill markthe interior has a 'max' mark to show the most drinking water level but it's not quick to see it. Do the job-all-around: the lid is hinged in the center, so when it is flipped open, the base half of extends beneath the rim of the kettle. It so transpires that the base of the lid traces up with the 'max' mark, so you can use the lid as a marker for gauging when the h2o level reaches the mark. Conclusion----------the hamilton beach great touch tea kettle is desirable, simple to use, and boils water quickly. If i did not have two other electric kettles, i might most absolutely get this kettle once again.

It is really the swiftest electric kettle i've at any time had in conditions of boil situations -- a massive promoting point for me. No metallic stamped or welded collectively not like other stainless steel kettles out there. My outdated stove best kettle is out in the recycling bin. I was searching for an electric kettle that experienced completely no plastic. Soon after studying descriptions and evaluations of a lot of kettles and getting that my best kettle just doesn't exist (i was even prepared to pay a pair hundred dollars if i uncovered just one), this one arrived the closest. When there is plastic with this kettle, it is constrained to the lid and two quite small prongs at the leading of the kettle (i will put up images).

But what clinched it for me was when a further reviewer posted that the plastic lid effortlessly detached and the kettle continue to heated h2o fairly promptly. I made a decision to obtain this kettle if i could nevertheless get a fast boil without the need of the use of the plastic lid. This kettle will get to a roiling boil in less than three-minutes (with the lid) and gets the water incredibly hot ample for tea or a french press in about one-1/two to 2-minutes increase about a different one-one/2 minutes without the lid, which is fully suitable to me. I uncovered that inverting my round corning ware 1-1/two quart glass lid and placing it on prime of the kettle varieties a full seal, the drinking water heats up speedily and i will not have to deal with the plastic lid, checking auto-shut-off, nor the small irritant of boiling drinking water spitting out. I gave this kettle 4 out of 5 stars for the reason that the detracting elements are the plastic lid, plastic prongs and the point that, even though this is a technically an 8-cup ability kettle, the fill-line will make it a four-cup potential.

Always, there is an overflow reservoir (at the manage) which will fill up and drinking water will spill out the base if you tilt the kettle back towards the tackle. General, this kettle works beautifully for my requires and now i have a kettle with a glass lid and only two very compact pieces of plastic. And i get to drink my espresso in the early morning, my tea all day and i can swiftly boil water to dump on to the weeds exterior (which kills them obviously). I had a lot of kettles over the yrs. My spouse and i made the decision to change electric kettle immediately after quite a few accidents with typical kettles. We were skeptical to go the electric kettle way, b/c most of them are made of plastic.

It is one hundred% stainless metal besides a modest piece of plastic on top, which technically does not get in touch with drinking water. It is 100% stainless metal in which the water is boiled. Water only touches plastic when poured, and for those people who treatment, that plastic can be removed fairly conveniently. Other stainless steel kettles have plastic where by the drinking water boils, ordinarily for a water stage indicator. This kettle makes use of a line on the inside of to mark how significantly drinking water you have set in.

It cannot leak, stainless steel imparts no flavor, and water boiling in a kettle is constantly loud. You would have to position you hand on this kettle for quite a few seconds to burn up oneself not just a slight touch as with a stove major kettle boiling. I had the saeco kettle, which i genuinely appreciated, but did not want to consume h2o remaining boiled in plastic. Just after a ton of analysis i identified the just one true one hundred% stainless steel kettle. For those people who complain that it has no drinking water level gauge--kettles that have them normally have plastic in call with the boiling drinking water, which several people choose to keep away from.

If you fill the kettle only to the max fill line, you are placing about 5 cups of drinking water in it. If you stuffed it to the rim perhaps it would hold eight cups (nearer to 7 cups, i believe), but the directions plainly point out that you shouldn't fill it previously mentioned the max fill line, and the odd lid would be submerged in the h2o (even though open up) if you filled it earlier mentioned the max fill line. I'm suspicious that this kettle is not 'stainless steel' in the fullest sense that customers count on: not just a 'stainless finish' but that it is secure. I say this simply because i have employed genuine stainless cookware, which include copper clad cookware, all my daily life and i have never seen stainless heat to boiling as quickly as this kettle does - virtually in just seconds. Thankfully the kettle is quite straightforward and streamlined and doesn't appear to be to be 'missing' anything without having the lid.

No Plastic - But Is It Safe?. I'm suspicious that this kettle is not "stainless steel" in the fullest sense that consumers expect: not just a "stainless finish" but that it is safe. I say this because i have used true stainless cookware, including copper clad cookware, all my life and i have never seen stainless heat to boiling as quickly as this kettle does - literally within seconds. Stainless is a fairly poor heat conductor. The kettle is also very lightweight and somehow the metal doesn't feel like stainless to my hand. However, the manufacturer's website lists it as "double walled stainless steel" (and even an anodized aluminum is preferable to plastics for cooking). The entire pot is completely seamless (thanks to another reviewer for posting images of the interior) and with this i am very pleased. We are not using the lid at all. It was awkward and had plastic components. Fortunately the kettle is very simple and streamlined and doesn't seem to be "missing" anything without the lid. The water boils so fast that we don't have the chance to walk away and forget it. Note that the auto shut off will not work without some kind of lid in place. It doesn't have to be the lid that came with the kettle; i tried covering the kettle with a paper plate and the auto shut off did function. The on/off switch must be turned off manually unless the auto shut off has tripped. In our case, not using the lid, we have to be sure to turn the kettle off when returning the kettle to its stand. If this had a proper lid and if i was certain about the metal i would give this 5+ stars. It's very simple to use, very elegant in appearance, does stay cool to the touch, and is constructed very well. .

About As Good As I've Found For No Plastic. I really like this kettle. Its main plus, for me, is its seamless metal interior (other than lid). For those who complain that it has no water level gauge--kettles that have them generally have plastic in contact with the boiling water, which many people prefer to avoid. It also boils the water very quickly. However, the description of the product as having an 8-cup capacity is misleading. If you fill the kettle only to the max fill line, you're putting about 5 cups of water in it. If you filled it to the rim maybe it would hold 8 cups (closer to 7 cups, i think), but the directions clearly state that you shouldn't fill it above the max fill line, and the odd lid would be submerged in the water (while open) if you filled it above the max fill line. .
